What REALTOR® should I choose?

"Who is the best REALTOR® in Austin to list my home with?" It is understandable when home owners ask this question because there are over 8,000 agents in the Austin area. It is my goal to be the absolute best listing agent to sell your home.  Each home and strategy is a bit unique. The agent helping you sell your home needs to know this and customize their marketing for you and your home. How will I accomplish being the best for your listing?  This depends on your goals & what you want to achieve. This is not about an agents vision, it our obligation as REALTOR® to look after your best interests during the entire transaction. It's part of our fiduciary duty. These ethical obligations are best explained in the National Association of Realtor's Code of Ethics.

Interviewing real estate agents

Before you list your home,  interview agents. During the interview you will want to ask them if they can provide certain things necessary to sell your home.

Questions to ask a real estate agent before you sign a listing agreement

      • Are you a full-time Realtor?
      • Will you be readily available to help with the selling process and answer questions?
      • Will you provide me with timely updates? 
      • Can you provide me with a deliberate strategy to achieve my goals?
      • Can and will you explain your marketing plan to me in detail?

Will you create a huge banner ad for my home on your personal website?

Will you create at least one special website for my home in addition to a featured page on your own agent website?

Will you create multiple videos of my home & upload them to multiple sites?

High-quality flyers are created for your home. No exceptions.

  • Do you possess good negotiation skills? Why do you think so?
  • Will you provide great attention to detail on all paperwork?
If the agent you are interviewing cannot assure you that all of these will be provided, politely choose another agent. This level of professionalism & top-notch marketing takes time. Lots of time. Once you have selected your agent, you will want to sign a written agreement with them so the agent and broker can legally represent your interests. Broker representation is explained in a document entitled: INFORMATION ABOUT BROKERAGE SERVICES. Read it carefully. As with any real estate documents, if you are not sure what something means, be sure to ask the agent questions to help clarify what representation will mean for you specifically. If necessary, ask you lawyer. A good agent or Realtor will understand and would do the same if they were the seller.
